DSLNG Holds Writing Competition for Banggai Journalists to Commemorate World Maleo Day

To commemorate World Maleo Day on November 21, DSLNG held a writing competition about the company's role in the conservation of this endemic Sulawesi bird, which was participated by journalists from Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi. The competition, which opened in early November 2024, was joined by dozens of journalists from various media outlets. Several articles on the conservation of this endangered species were published in the media, starting with the efforts to protect the maleo through DSLNG's ex-situ maleo conservation, as well as the sustainability impact of the positive initiatives carried out by the company.
From the writing competition with a total prize pool of several million rupiahs, Iskandar Djiada from Banggai Raya won first place and received a Samsung Tab A9+ for his article titled "Lestari Maleoku, Budaya Banggaiku Terpelihara" (My Maleo is Preserved, My Banggai Culture is Maintained). Other winners also received various prizes including gadgets, smartwatches, and other attractive consolation prizes. Since initiating the world’s first ex-situ maleo conservation in 2012, DSLNG has released 127 maleo chicks into the Bakiriang Wildlife Sanctuary, Central Sulawesi, as of 2024
