DSLNG commemorates Earth Day 2022 by planting 350 candlenut trees (Aleurites moluccanus) in the Bakiriang Wildlife Reserve (SM), a protected area for the endangered maleo bird in South Batui District, Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi. Candlenut fruit is the main food of maleo birds, so this planting is expected to increase food sources for this Sulawesi endemic bird. Apart from DSLNG, this tree planting activity was also attended by the Central Sulawesi Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) and the Maleo Lovers Community. So far, DSLNG has released hundreds of maleo chicks hatched in SM Bakiriang.
