The Birth of Maleo in Maleo Center DSLNG
Ex situ Maleo conservation efforts at the Maleo Center of PT Donggi-Senoro LNG marked a historical record on Monday, 11 November 2019, by hatching the first Filial 1 (F1) Maleo from broodstock (Parental / P) which reproduced inside the ex situ facility.
The birth of the first generation of young Maleo bird as a result of ex situ conservation became a major contribution from the Maleo Center DSLNG to the scientific research for the preservation of Sulawesi endemic species. Macrocephalon maleo is statated as an endangered species according to International Union of Conservation and Nature (IUCN).
DSLNG is the first private company that pioneered Maleo ex situ conservation which started in 2012 in collaboration with the Central Sulawesi Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) and Maleo researchers from Universitas Tadulako, Palu.
